Stephen Fischbacher spent the first 20 years of his life in Glasgow and his early career as a youth and children’s worker fostered a strong interest in the emotional and spiritual well-being of young people and their families. When his children came along in the early 90s he started writing songs for them and spurred on by their enthusiasm for the songs, Stephen started to compose songs for an “Activity service” in his church.
Looking back, Stephen reflects that the songs that made the most impact were the ones connecting real life issues like challenges in families and bullying to faith in God. His conviction that songs had transformative power led Stephen to found Fischy Music as a charitable trust in 1998 with the aim of supporting the emotional and spiritual well-being of children.
Since then, Fischy Music (www.fischy.com) has grown to the point where the team work directly with around 15,000 children every year. Fischy Music is used regularly in both school and church setting across the UK and beyond and in the last few years Messy Churches around the world are increasingly using the songs.
