We’ve all been to Emmaus! This story, part of Luke’s story of Easter day, reminds us of what it’s like to be utterly disappointed and then to find hope and joy again! Use art to explore the difference between hope and disappointment, go on a search for Jesus (who’s sometimes harder to see than we’d like), play with bread, and more.
This session includes 12 activities and a script for a full, interactive Celebration. “Walk to Emmaus” debuted at Celebrate the Mess 2024 and these session plans include links to some of the music used during that conference. While the liturgy isn’t included in this session plan, this Messy Church would work well if you wanted to celebrate Communion/Eucharist. There’s also a suggestion for a couple of service projects.
