Forget the former things, do not dwell on the past. See I am doing a new thing. Now it springs up. Can’t you see it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland

Welcome to September Messy Friends
The turning of the seasons always causes me to reflect. Did I do all the things I wanted to do this summer? What did I learn? Am I ready for the fall? It has been many years since my adult children were in school but I always live vicariously through the Facebook pictures of ‘first day of school ‘of friends and family.
This year, however, my oldest son, begins September as both a student and a teacher. He is working full time while attending graduate school part time. It is going to be a messy and wild ride for him! I have been reminded of all the different people and the tasks they perform in education as I have prayed the 25 days of prayer with the Messy Church of Aldersgate UMC in South Carolina. What a great way to support our communities. Check out their Facebook page here.
Messy Friends from around the world
Our global Messy friends remind me that as our season in the Northern Hemisphere turns to fall, in the Southern Hemisphere spring is arriving. Our friends in Australia, South Africa and New Zealand are experiencing the wonder of spring. Wherever you find yourself this September, whether you are experiencing a new thing in your life or saying goodbye to summer weather, may you experience God’s presence surrounding you and leading you to the next step.
The newest Messy Session, “A New Beginning”, is based on several verses from Isaiah 43. God is doing a new thing, even though we may not recognize it. These verses remind us that we can begin this month with a fresh start. We can let go of what happened before and trust God to lead us in new and wonderful ways. Even though this school year may be a bit messy, God is with us. God does not promise to clean up the mess but to lead us through it.
Thanks be to God.
Grace and Peace, Roberta
