“Son, you are always with me, and all that is mine is yours. But we had to celebrate and rejoice because this brothers of yours was dead and has come to life; he was lost and has been found.”
Luke 15: 31-32
This Messy Session is based on the Luke 15: 11-32 story Jesus gives as a response to religious leaders who question his patterns of welcoming and eats at the same table, those who they consider to be ‘sinners’. In his teaching, Jesus shares three parables regarding ‘lost things’, ending with the story of the father and two sons. One son takes his inheritance and runs away while the eldest son stays at home, working on his father’s estate.
In this Messy Session, you will explore the extravagant love of God through the eyes of the Father in the story. The loving father runs out to welcome his younger son home and leaves the party to find his older son. This is a party-giving Father God loves both of his sons unconditionally! How do we experience the extravagant love of God?
