Description

Step away from the noise and into a place where God meets us.

The Wilderness Journey is a deeply meaningful Messy Family Retreat experience designed to help families slow down, connect across generations, and encounter God in powerful, hands-on ways. This extended format creates space for faith to be shared, experienced, and “caught” through storytelling, creativity, and time together .

Rooted in the rich biblical theme of the wilderness, this retreat explores how God forms, provides, and speaks to us in seasons that feel uncertain, quiet, or challenging.

What You’ll Explore:

This retreat follows three powerful “wilderness moments”:

  • Bread in the Desert (Exodus 16) – Trusting God for daily provision
  • The Wilderness Test (Matthew 4) – Standing firm in the face of temptation
  • The Mountain Sanctuary (Luke 6) – Creating space to listen and pray

Each session invites participants to experience these stories through interactive Messy Church gatherings and an immersive scavenger hunt adventure.

What’s Included:

  • 3 complete retreat sessions with flexible formats
  • A mix of creative, hands-on activities and experiential learning (manna games, prayer jars, sensory play, service projects, and more)
  • A fully developed scavenger hunt based on Psalm 91
  • Celebration scripts, reflection questions, and prayer experiences
  • Meal ideas, song suggestions, and table conversations
  • Multiple implementation options:
    • Overnight retreat
    • One-day experience
    • Multi-month Messy Church series

Why This Retreat Matters:

Throughout Scripture, the wilderness is where transformation happens. It’s not always comfortable—but it’s where God provides, strengthens, and draws close.

This retreat creates intentional space for families to:

  • Practice trusting God daily
  • Learn to listen for God’s voice
  • Experience faith together across generations

Sometimes we need to leave the ordinary to discover what God has been saying all along.
