What’s On My Desk: February 2026

Knowing Who We Are (So We Can Better Serve Who You Are)

Messy Church has always been about people—real people, in real communities, gathering around food, creativity, stories, and faith. But as Messy Church USA continues to grow, we want to pause and ask an important question: who are we, really? And just as importantly, who are we serving?

Taking time to understand our Messy Church communities in the US helps us live more fully into our mission: to help Messy Churches start, sustain, and connect. When we know where Messy Churches are meeting, who is showing up, what’s working, and what’s challenging, we can offer better resources, stronger support, and more meaningful connections with one another. Your story helps shape the bigger story we’re telling together.

That’s why we’re inviting US-based Messy Churches to take a short survey. It’s one small way to help us listen well—to celebrate what’s flourishing, notice what’s needed, and dream about what’s next. Thanks for helping us understand who we are and who we’re serving, so we can keep building a Messy Church movement that is welcoming, faithful, and full of joy.

The survey will be open throughout February. At the end of the month, every church who has participated in the survey will receive a new Messy Church session as our way to say “thank you” for helping us continue this Messy journey!

One way we’re already responding to the unique needs within our network is debuting in March. Are you a small church with 50 or so on average in Sunday worship? We know from experience that Messy Churches are thriving in small churches around the world, but it can be overwhelming to think about getting started! How many volunteers do you really need in your setting? How could you adapt fewer activities to meet your needs better? The March Get Started with Messy Church training is especially for you! Trainers Trish Johnsen and Rebecca Leibowitz are experts at doing Messy Church in a small church setting. They will guide you through the foundational building blocks of Messy Church while helping you imagine what Messy Church could look like in your uniquely gifted context.

Register today for this training! This 3-pt training will be March 3, 10, & 17 from 7-8:30pm ET. Registration closes March 1.

Stay tuned for new sessions and resources coming your way!

Have a blessed and Messy start to Lent!
